Publication Ethics

The Al-Ikhlas Journal: Journal of Islamic Religious Education is committed to upholding high standards of publication ethics to ensure academic integrity and the quality of published scholarly work. This publication ethics statement follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and applies to all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.

1. Duties of Authors

Authors are required to:

  • Submit original manuscripts free from plagiarism, fabrication, and data falsification

  • Ensure that the manuscript has not been previously published and is not under review elsewhere

  • Properly acknowledge all sources and references

  • Include only individuals who have made significant contributions as authors

  • Disclose any conflicts of interest

  • Revise the manuscript in accordance with reviewers’ and editors’ comments


2. Duties of Editors

Editors are responsible for:

  • Making publication decisions in an objective, independent, and fair manner

  • Ensuring a transparent and professional peer-review process

  • Maintaining confidentiality of manuscripts and authors’ identities

  • Avoiding conflicts of interest

  • Addressing any ethical issues in accordance with established procedures


3. Duties of Reviewers

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Conduct reviews objectively, constructively, and in a timely manner

  • Maintain confidentiality of reviewed manuscripts

  • Provide constructive feedback to improve manuscript quality

  • Declare any conflicts of interest

  • Refrain from using information obtained during the review process for personal benefit


4. Duties of the Publisher

The publisher is responsible for:

  • Safeguarding editorial independence and integrity

  • Supporting ethical and responsible publishing practices

  • Managing the journal in a professional and sustainable manner

  • Ensuring compliance with academic and ethical standards


5. Handling of Ethical Misconduct

Any allegations of publication ethics misconduct, including plagiarism, duplicate publication, or data manipulation, will be handled in accordance with COPE guidelines. The journal reserves the right to reject, withdraw, or retract articles that violate publication ethics.
